June 17, a regular sitting of the NA Standing Committee on Defense, Security and Law Enforcement was convened.
The issue of discussing the draft law “On Introducing Amendments and Additions to the Law on Approval of the Disciplinary Code of the Police of the Republic of Artsakh” was put on the addenda.
The substantiation of the bill was presented by the Head of the Police of the Republic of Artsakh, Police Colonel, Artyom Harutyunyan.
The draft law proposes to repeal the provision of Article 8 of the law, according to which a police officer with a valid disciplinary sanction who has committed a new disciplinary offense should be subject to a disciplinary sanction that is more severe than the current one.
Another amendment proposes to resume an internal investigation in the event of a suspension of criminal proceedings, as well as to allow the person conducting an internal investigation to receive additional explanations or take other necessary actions with materials in the event that an internal investigation is suspended without resuming an official investigation.
The project was approved by the committee. It will be submitted to the next sitting of the National Assembly for discussion.
